Default Can I hire someone to work my farms?

Yes, in Farm Town you can hire other farmers to work on your farms.

There are 2 Marketplaces where you can hire someone to work on your farms, but it is better to go to the Job Marketplace to hire as that is where farmers looking for work are more likely to be. The Trade Marketplace is mainly for buying and selling to farmers or the Mayor. To get to a Marketplace, click on the MAP and then click on the Marketplace you want to go to.

OR

You can hire a neighbor, friend or buddy come visit your farm and you can hire them from there, they can also be hired from the Marketplace.

These are the jobs you can hire a farmer to do:
  • Harvest crops, flowers and trees.
  • Chop trees.
  • Plow fields.
  • Fish waters.
  • Work Factories and/or Service Facilities via posting the requests to Facebook
(only your Facebook friends can work facilities).
  • Hire to help decorate your farms.
  • You can also hire a Super Neighbor
(only neighbors can be hired as a Super Neighbor).

When a hired worker accepts your hire request, when they get to your farm there are brief notifications in white lettering that tell you things like what farm they arrived on, what items they are working on.

If you are working with the hired worker on the same farm and the white lettering is getting in the way of what you are doing then you can mouse over the white lettering to make them disappear.

For the benefits of hiring a stranger or neighbor Click Here.

There is a time limit on how long a regular hire will last for. The hire will be disabled once 8 hours has passed since you hired them.

For full details on both the Job Marketplace and Trade Marketplace click on What is the Marketplace for?

Default How do I get to the market place?

To get to one of the the Marketplaces click on the Map icon in the bottom right corner of the toolbar.

There are two Marketplaces in Farm Town:
  • The Job Marketplace (Work and Hire) - This is where most farmers wanting to hire others to work and farmers wanting work will go.

  • The Trade Marketplace (Sell and Buy) - This is where those that are just selling or trading will go so they are much less likely to be disturbed by farmers wanting to hire others to work.

If you only want to sell and trade with other farmers go to the Trade Marketplace In the picture above it's indicated with a blue arrow, click on the Trade Marketplace to be taken there.

Go to the Job Marketplace (Work and Hire) when you want to hire someone. In the picture above it's indicated with a green arrow, click on Job Marketplace to be taken there.

When you arrive, Tom (Mayor of Farm Town) asks how he can help you.

If you are there to get work yourself you can just click on "Never Mind.. "., the message will clear and you will see who is at that Marketplace.

If you are there to hire a farmer, here are the basics, there are other ways to hire a farmer which are explained in the next post. Until you are familiar with the Marketplaces and the messages start with these:
Click on "I want to hire farm hands to help me in my farm. I hear I can make more money that way." The sentence is indicated with a red box in the picture below:

You will then see the following message:

Click on "Okay, thanks for the tip, I'll try that". The message will disappear and you will be able to see the market place and everyone that is there.

When you have been to the Job Marketplace a few times and are used to seeing Tom's message you can skip clicking on the "I want to hire farm hands to help me in my farm. I hear I can make more money that way.", and instead click on "Never Mind.. ". That will then skip the second message and you can go straight to clicking on an avatar to hire someone.

Some farmers will have colour coded text below their avatar, it may say what kind of jobs they are looking for, or perhaps if they have tools or fuel. The colours and how to change you own avatar status are explained in the following post.. What is the Marketplace for?

NOTE: You can only change your status message while you are in either of the Marketplaces.

Now you are ready to find someone to hire, you can scroll down to the next post to read instructions on How do I hire someone to work on my farm(s)?

Default How do I hire someone to work on my farm(s)?

Hiring Farmers to work your Farms:

Hiring is mainly done from the Job Marketplace where most farmers will go when looking for work.

The Trade Marketplace is mainly used for selling and trading where farmers do not want to be hired to work while they do that. Although you can hire farmers from other areas of the game, there are additional benefits for hiring strangers from the marketplace which will be explained later.

There are several ways to hire a farmer, we are showing you some common methods:

Go to the Job Marketplace.

OPTION 1: If a farmer is chatting in the Chat window and they are still in that area, you can click on their Avatar name in the Chat window which will open their Avatar menu that you can use to hire them.
Example:

The different coloured names help you identify which farmer is speaking as there can be more than one farmer with the same avatar name.

OPTION 2: Click on the Avatar of the farmer you want to hire.
There will be a yellow outline when you mouseover a farmer which help you know which farmer you are going to click on if there are many farmers at market.
Clicking on the farmers Avatar opens their Avatar menu which you can use to hire them.

The first thing to check in that menu is if that farmer is your Neighbour or Buddy.
If they do you will see a blue or green label under the Avatar name telling you what that relationship is.

To earn an extra box for hiring a farmer, or for the farmer you are hiring to earn the bonus chest, you do not want to hire a farmer that has a connection to you as a neighbour or buddy.

Examples:

On the left Archie has no connection to the Farmer. The farmer hiring him would earn an extra box when Archie completes the jobs. Archie will earn a bonus chest when they complete the work on each farm.

In the middle Archie is a Buddy to the Farmer. No extra box or bonus chest will be earned for hiring Archie.

On the right Archie is a Neighbour to the Farmer. No extra box or bonus chest will be earned for hiring Archie.

Benefits of hiring Strangers and working for strangers are explained later.

Farmers that want work at the Job Marketplace can change the background colour of their Avatar name to red. This indicates that they want to be hired. A visual aid to help you know which farmers want work.

Farmers with only a pink background colour on their Avatar name can NOT be hired at that time. They are also trying to hire a farmer.

There are other colours which have different meanings. They can also use more than one colour.

Whichever method you use to hire a farmer. You will then see the Avatar menu.
When you click on a hire option, another menu will appear depending on which option you clicked.

Bobbie has no connection to the farmer that clicked on him.
In the the picture we have put a red outline around the various hire options that you can choose from:

  • Hire Multiple - Hire the farmer for more than 1 type of job.
For example harvest crops, plow your fields or more.
Hire to Harvest Trees - only hires them to harvest your trees.
Hire to Harvest Flowers - only hires them to harvest your flowers.
Hire to Harvest Crops - only hires them to harvest your crops.
Hire to Plow - only hires them to plow your fields.
Hire to Fish - only hires them to fish your waters.
Hire to Chop - only hires them to chop your trees.

The grey or yellow tickets to the right of some of the options in the picture are to do with the Farm Pass Feature.

You can hire them to do multiple tasks. Add a check mark in the box for each job that you want them to do.

Remember to set your preferences for whether or not you will allow the hired farmer to use your Tools and or Fuel. The options are in the pop up window:

Use of your tools (Let Employee use my tools) - the default setting is to allow the use of them. Remove the check mark if you do not want your tools to be used and it will remain deselected for that session ONLY. If you reload the game the check mark will be added again.

Use of your Fuel - Click the drop down arrow to view the options then click on the option you want.

If you do not allow the use of your fuel and the worker has none or runs out of their own to use they will not be able to complete the jobs you hired them for using the bigger tools. The only tools that do not require Fuel are the x1 and x2 tools.

Click on the big green check mark at the bottom to continue with the hiring. You will then see the Select Your Farms window. To cancel the request if you change your mind click on the red "X" to cancel the hiring process.

Note: When you click on any of the single jobs from the hire menu. Like harvesting crops, harvesting trees, harvesting flowers, chop trees, plow or fish you will then see the Farm Selection window where you will can select which farm(s) you want to hire them to work.

Farm Selection: Once you have decided what you want the person to do, you have to decide which farm(s) you want them to work and you will see the Select Your Farms window (shown below):

The green tint around a farm name indicates which of your farms you were on last.

Any farms greyed out are your private farms. You can not hire anyone to work a private farm. In the example above the farm called Blossom Way is greyed out.

Bottom left of the Farm Selection screen is another way for you to set your preferences for the use of your tools and fuel. In this example the farm owner has allowed their Fuel to be used first and the use of their tools that they own.

Add a check mark to the box for each farm you want the hired farmer to work. Click the green check mark to send the request.

If you are not sure which of your farms have work on rather than hiring them for all farms which can waste their time making them visit every farm when there is no work on them, there is another option that you can use on the farm selection screen called Show Work Info. button. Click on Show Work Info to see a window with all your farms, how many items are ready to work and the size of the farm.
Example:
The default is set to show you all work that you have chosen for them to do that is available on all farms. You can change this to show a specific job if you wish, by clicking each of the coloured initials in the legend top left of the window. Clicking All will return the jobs viewed to all work available.

This is very useful if you can not remember which farms have work on. The legend buttons at the top right will only consider the work types your are trying to hire for, for example, if you didn't select fish as a work type, if you click the blue F button in the legend, no farm will be colored. Also, clicking the buttons in the legend will not alter the status of the farm checkboxes.

The key for this legend is as follows:

FP - Fields to Plow
SP - Seeds to be Planted
CH - Crops to Harvest
FH - Flowers to be Harvested
TH - Trees to Harvest
TC - Trees to Chop
F - Fishing
All - All jobs

When you have used the Show Work Info screen, to go back to showing the Farm Names you just click on Show Names and it will change to show the names of your farms.

Show User Info can be clicked on to see if anyone is working on one of your farms and which ones. You may want to use this if you already hired someone to work for you, you are not sure which farm they are on, and want to hire the next farmer for different farms.

The three blue circles at the top right tell you what the different circles on a farm mean:
Working, Connected OR Working, Disconnected OR Idle, Connected/Online.
Connected means they are Online in the game, Disconnected means they are offline in the game.

After you have sent the Hire Request:
The farmer you hired receives the hire offer, it tells them how many farms you have hired them for, which jobs and if you have allowed your tools and fuel. Only one hire offer can be viewed at a time.

They then have 30 seconds to accept or decline the offer. The avatar name label background color for the farmer you are trying to hire will change to Orange. If the player rejects the request or if the request expires after 30 seconds, the color will change to Yellow and a denied confirmation will be sent back to the sender. The colours help to avoid sending several hire requests to the same farmers and to know which ones you have already asked that did not accept. Examples:

Hire confirmation:
When the farmer you sent the hire request to, either accepts or declines your offer, you will get a hire confirmation (example shown below). If you have not received this confirmation then they have not accepted or declined the offer yet.

The pictures below show the 2 possible confirmations that you could receive, the one on the left accepts the work offer and the one on the right would have declined the work offer.
  • If you receive the confirmation that they accepted the work offer (shown above on the left side) you can do one of two things.
  • You can go to the farm that they will be sent to by clicking on the top option in the message, which is the first farm that you have hired them to do or if it is a single farm hire then you will be sent to that farm.

  • Or you can stay where you are by clicking on the lower option in the message. You might want to do that if you wanted to look for work yourself while your own farms are being done, or if you wanted to go to the trade market or you wanted to return home to a different farm where your hired worker is not working.

Once you have hired a stranger from the market place and they are on your farm, if you decide that you want to hire them for other jobs you can hire them from your farm without having to go back to the market place.

If when you send the hire request, that farmer has left, you will see a popup informing you that has happened. The request will not be, sent and you can then chose another farmer you can see at the Job Marketplace:

Click the green check mark to close the popup, then choose another farmer to hire.

If while you were choosing which jobs and which farms to work the farmer you chose changed to only wanting to hire others (avatars' name has a pink background) you will see a informing you that has happened.

Click on the No Problem in that message to close it, the request will not be sent, then chose another farmer to hire.

Example of the message you see if you try to hire a farmer with only the pink background colour on their Avatar name:

--------------------------------------

Sending a message to a worker after hiring.

You will need to have at least 4 farms so you can use Show Work Info and then Show User Info.

When on your own farms you can click on the farm grid top LEFT of your farm, then click on SHOW NAMES When the Go to Farm window opens, bottom right of that window click on Show User Info

When at market or on someone else's farms, you can also access your the Show Work Info for YOUR farms by clicking on the Home icon bottom right of your screen to see your farm grid. Then click on SHOW NAMES then click on Show User Info.

If your worker has not left there will be an envelope you can click on showing top right of the window.

You will see something like this but they will be your workers on your farms. In this example we have indicated the message envelope with a red arrow.

There is a worker showing Idle on farm 2 and a worker showing as working and online on farm 5:

Clicking on the Message envelope shows you another window:

In this window IF they were not a Neighbour or a Buddy you can also use the blue and green silhouette icons to send a Neighbour or a Buddy Request.
Please remember that to earn a reward for hiring and for a worker to earn the bonus chest they can not be a Neighbour or Buddy.

A dimmed icon means that they are on one of your lists.

If neither icon is dimmed like these:

Click on the Blue one to send a Request to add them as your Neighbour.
Click on the Green one to send a Request to add them as your Buddy.

Tiger is offline and Idle on Farm 2. The farm owner can only send them an in game message. They will receive the message as they work or when they move to another farm.

Hetty and the farm owner are both online in the game and both are farm 5. In this case there are 2 message options. To send an in game message AND to send an online chat message to the chat box.

Clicking on this icon lets you send an in game message to that farmer.

Clicking on this option lets you send a message that will show up in the chat box. Only use this 2nd option IF you are both going to be on the same farm long enough for you both to see the message in the chat box in your game bar.

Clicking on either of those options shows you a small message box that you can type in using your keyboard.

When you have finished typing your message, click on the green Send button to send it, or click on the red X to cancel

--------------------------------------

How to know if Tools and Fuel are allowed by the farmer hiring you and when they are not allowed.
There are several different options for the farm owner allowing or not allowing the use of their tools and fuel. The information is in the Hire offer that is sent to you. You will need to read it to know if you're going to be able to use their tools and fuel, and if you are going to be using their fuel first or last.

Examples of when tools or fuel are allowed, indicated in the pictures with a red arrow so you know where to look:

Example 1: None of their Tools or Fuel are allowed.
Left Picture, there is no mention of use of tools or fuel being allowed.
If you click on Which of your tools can I use for this job? you will see the picture on the right tells you their tools are out of action.

You will need to use your own Tools and Fuel for this job.

Example 2: Their Tools allowed but NOT their Fuel.
Left picture red arrow indicates where you will see tools are allowed.
Red box on left picture is the option to click on to see what their largest tools are.
Right picture, red box, shows you their tools.

You can use their tools or your own tools, but you do not have use of their fuel.
You will be using your own fuel so if you do not have much fuel you need to consider if you will be able to complete the work using your own.

If you accept the work and run out of fuel, you will need to refuel or you will have to let the farm owner know so they can either allow the use of their fuel or if they can't, hire someone who has some.

Example 3: Their Tools allowed, Fuel allowed LAST.
Left picture, red arrow indicates where you will see if Fuel is used LAST.
You do not see how much Fuel they have.
Red box on left picture is the option to click on to see what their largest tools are.
Right picture, red box, shows you their tools.

You can use their tools or your own tools.
You will be using your fuel first until you run out then you will be using the farm owners fuel if they have any.

Example 4: Their Tools allowed AND you will be using their fuel first.
  • You can use their tools or your own and will be using their fuel First.

    Important additional information:
  • If the farm owner runs out of fuel during the work, you will then need to use your own Fuel to complete the job.

  • This is the only time you can see approximately how much fuel the farm owner has.

  • Pay attention to the amount of Fuel showing in the box!

  • A figure with an M after it indicates Millions.
  • A figure with a B after it indicates Billions which is a far greater quantity.

In this picture below the farm owner has allowed the use of their Tools and they have round 464 Million Fuel.
Red box on left picture is the option to click on to see what their largest tools are.
Right picture, red box, shows you their tools.

In the picture below the farm owner has allowed the use of their Tools and they have round 18 Billion Fuel.
Red box indicates where the Fuel amount is shown and when it is Billions of Fuel which is far greater than Millions of Fuel.

Important:
If you are needing to earn the bonus chest
you do not want to be hired by a Neighbour or Buddy.

If you have a connection as a Neighbour or Buddy that will be indicated top right of the hire message like these examples:

Default What are the colors on the farm selector when I get hired?

When you get hired to work on someone else's farm(s) the farm selector will change color according to what is happening. All farms that have not been picked to be worked will be transparent.

Default What are the benefits of hiring somebody to work at your farm?

There are certain benefits for hiring either Neighbours or Strangers.

Super Neighbour: This can only be done with neighbours, you can't hire strangers or friends to be a Super Neighbour. For more information on Super Neighbours Click Here

Harvesting crops, trees, flowers and chopping trees:
  • Hiring a Neighbour or a Super Neighbour or hiring a Friend from your farm - You will get large boxes per item instead of regular boxes. Large boxes sell for more coins at market.
  • Hiring a Stranger - You will get large boxes per item for hiring, PLUS an extra regular box per item for hiring a stranger. This option has the most benefits as you get more boxes. It does not matter when it comes to facilities which size box is used.

Plowing fields: Hiring a neighbour would give the best benefit for lowing. You will receive 1 XP for each plot that is plowed no matter who does the plowing. Below explains the difference between doing it yourself or hiring neighbours or strangers.
  • Do it yourself - will cost 20 coins per plot to plow.

  • Neighbours, Super Neighbours, Friends - will cost 10 coins per plot to plow.

  • Strangers - will cost 15 coins per plot to plow.

Fishing:
  • Hiring a Neighbour or Super Neighbour- You will get large boxes per item instead of regular boxes. Large boxes sell for more coins at market.
  • Hiring a Stranger - You will get large boxes per item for hiring, PLUS an extra regular box per item for hiring a stranger. This option has the most benefits as you get more boxes. It does not matter when it comes to facilities which size box is used.
  • If you have bait you will receive double the fish caught.

Default What do I receive for working on someones farm?

When you get hired to work on other peoples farm(s) you will get the following:
  • Crops: When you harvest crops for someone else you will receive 25% of the selling price of the crop that you are harvesting and you will receive 10% of the crop that you are harvesting.

  • Trees, flowers and fishing: When you harvest trees, flowers, chop trees or fish you will get 100% of the selling price instead of 25% like you get for the crops, since the crops you would receive more coins when selling, this was changed to try and balance out what the employee received for trees, flowers and fishing. You will also receive 50% of what you harvest, chop or fish compared to the 10% for the crops.

  • Plowing: When you plow someone else's farm you gain 5 coins and get 1 XP for each plot you plow.

  • Planting: You only have the ability to plant for someone else when you are a Super Neighbour for a neighbour AND your neighbour has given you permission to plant for them. For this you receive 2XP per plot planted.

Bonus Chest: When you are hired by a stranger from the market place, you can earn a bonus from the Bonus Chest. If you are hired by a Neighbour or Buddy you will not earn this so if you are participating in the Farm Pass feature you may need to be hired by a stranger depending on the type of goal you have to complete.
The work offer you receive will show either a blue indicator or a green indicator towards the top right of the request if a Neighbour or Buddy has hired you. When there is no indicator showing there is no connection and you are being offered work by a stranger.

The farmer that hires you will know if they are hiring one of their Neighbour or Buddies as they also see a similar indicator when clicking on an Avatar to hire.

Examples:
When you are hired by a Stranger at the Job Marketplace the bonus chest will appear as you start working in the upper left corner of your game screen, just under where the coins and fuel are located.

Your Bonus consists of the same amount of coins and boxes you got for doing the job and also you earn XP for harvesting flowers, trees, chopping and fishing.

To be able to collect from the Bonus Chest you must complete ALL of the work on that farm that you was hired to do. If you don't see anymore work, but the Bonus Chest is saying there is more work to complete, you can do the following to see if there is something that is hidden. .
  • Reload the current farm. Make sure that it is the current farm only, if you click on a different farm that will end the Bonus Chest on the farm you was working on.
  • The eye icon in the bottom right corner set it to hidden (eye is fully closed) if it is not already set to hidden.
  • For each task you was hired to do, pick up each of the corresponding single tools and see if there is any work that needs to be completed.

If there is more than one farm you need to work and you navigate to the next farm to work, the bonus chest will automatically pop up with the either the bonus in it or it will tell you if there is more work to be done in order to collect.

If you complete the work and leave that famers farm without collecting your bonus there is a pop up warning you that you have not collected it and asks you to confirm if you want to do that. If you click the green check mark you collect the bonus and then leave the farm.

If you didn't mean to leave that farmers farm, click the red X then click on the bonus chest to collect your bonus then carry on to the next farm.

Note: The Bonus Chest works only if you are hired by a stranger in the Marketplace.
If you are hired by a Neighbour or Buddy you will not get a Bonus Chest.

Default Can I hire someone to work my Factories or Service Facilities?

You can post facility work requests for anyone who has you on their Neighbour List or on their Buddy List so they can work your Factories or Service Facilities.

  • Your facility posts will appear on the Facility Wall Requests page to those who have you as their Neighbour or as their Buddy. You will NOT see your own posts there.

  • UPDATE: Sept 29th 2023 - You can now post your facility work requests to Facebook.

  • For Neighbours and Buddies to work your Factories and/or Service Facilities you will need one post for Regular Facilities (these make products) and one post for Service Facilities (these stock finished products that you have made in regular facilities and stored).

You only need to post one work request for Factories and one work request for Service Facilities.
Not one for every facility that you own!

  • When posting your facility requests, you will see a brief notification that says Request Sent.

How to Post Facility Work Requests:

To post a work request for Regular Facilities and Service Facilities you need open the facility that you want to post from.

For Regular Facilities open one of them. In this example we are using the Winery.
  1. Click on the What's Pending section.
  2. Then click on Produce Faster.

For Service Facilities open one of them. In this example we are using the Supermarket.
  1. Click on the What's In Stock section.
  2. Then click on Get More Clients !

Confirmation: After you click on the buttons to send out work requests you will get a confirmation screen asking you if you want to continue. It will also tell you what you will receive for each friend that helps you.
When the check mark is removed in the box to the left of where it says "Post to Facebook?" you will only be posting to the Facility Wall Requests page, not to Facebook.
When you click on the green check mark and are NOT posting to Facebook you will see a brief notification saying "Request Sent".

That's it you have posted your facility work request to the Facility Wall Request page.

If you have FarmTown Neighbours/Buddies as Friends on Facebook you can post the requests to Facebook if you wish.

Please remember that not all farmers will have Facebook accounts and you may not be Facebook friends with every Neighbour/Buddy you have on your lists in Farm Town.

To post to Facebook, you must make sure that there is a green check mark showing up in the box to the left of where it says "Post to Facebook?"

Then when you click on the green check mark at the bottom you will see 2nd confirmation popup which you must also click the green check mark on.
(If at this point you change your mind about posting to Facebook you can click on the red X to cancel posting to Facebook. Your post will still have been posted to the Facility Wall Requests page.)

Clicking on that green check mark in the smaller "Post to Facebook?" popup is what will generate the Facebook posting box where you can add a description if you wish and change the privacy of the post to what you want.

Cookies and popups must be allowed in your browser to be able to see the Facebook posting box.

When you click on the green check mark and ARE posting to Facebook you will see a brief notification saying "Request Sent".

Your facility posts will still also be posted to the Facility Wall Requests page. You can not disable your facility posts from showing up on the Facility Wall Requests page. Remember that not every farmer will be able to see your posts on Facebook, they may not be your Facebook friends, they may not have a Facebook account.

Those that have you as a Neighbour or a Buddy will be able to work your facility posts.
  • Notes about the Facebook posting box:
  • You may or may not see a facility picture in the posting box when it shows.
  • This picture may show up once it is posted to Facebook.
  • The size and position of the Facebook posting box can vary in size and position on your screen depending on the browser you are using.

Example of Facebook posting box without a facility picture:

Example of Facebook posting box with a facility picture:

The facilites that you can not post from are:

The Funeral and Religious Facilities are :
  • Funeral Supplies Factory
  • Funeral Home
  • Buddhist Supplies Factory

For the full list of Non-Workable Facilities go to Chapter 13: What are the Non-Workable Facilities?

What you earn for Working Neighbour and Buddy Facilities:

When you work a their facilities you complete 20% of what is showing as Pending at that time, which is also what the farm owner will get then...
  • For regular facilities both you and your friend will earn 3XP per product worked
  • For Service facilities both you your friend will earn 1XP per product your worked
  • As the Employee the mayor will give you 20% of those products that you worked as a way of saying thank you. Example: if there were 1000 products pending for any one item, you would work 20% of those which is 200 and of those you then get 20% of that figure so you get 40 products - These products do not come from your facilities or your storage so it's a free way of saying thanks!

Facility Wall Requests and Other Wall Requests
is where you can see different requests from those on your Neighbour List or Buddy List.

You will no longer see multiple facility posts from the same farmer in the Facility Wall Requests section of My Requests.
You will ONLY see the most recent Facility Requests by that farmer.

The older Facility Requests that they already posted earlier are automatically removed. This means you will see more Facility Requests from different farmers on that page and it still allows those that like to post them much more frequently than others do, to continue doing that.

To get to the Facility Wall Requests and Other Wall Requests pages, click on the tab at the top of the game named My Requests:

The My Requests tab has 3 sections but only 2 of them are currently being used.
  • My Requests This part of My Requests is no longer being used. All gifts are now sent/exchanged/accepted/returned within the Gift Manager

When you click on My Requests this section is now default.
  • Show Facility Wall Requests is where your facility requests will be posted and also where will see any facility work posted by farmers that are on your Neighbours List and Buddy List. You will not be able to see your own facility requests there!
Tip: It can be possible to work more than one facility request at a time, by right clicking on the Click here to help link and then opening it in a new tab, then repeating that with the next facility work request showing so that you can start facility work for Neighbours/Buddies in several browser tabs.

We do not recommend that you do this with too many at once as it can cause problems with some facilities not being worked. It will be up to you to determine how many would work 100% of the time. Start with only 2 before you try that with more of them.

However, remember that to see the pink background on facilities already worked, you must refresh the browser tab that has the Facility Wall Requests page open in it, to see who you have already sent to.
  • Show Other Wall Requests is where you will find the ingredients and bonuses that your neighbours and buddies have posted.
Tip: With Ingredient and Bonuses you can also do the same with sending them in more than on browser tab to send Neighbours/Buddies ingredients and bonuses quicker.

Right click on Get Bonus link or the Send Ingredients link and select open in a new tab.

However, remember that you can only send one ingredient and one bonus each to a friend and that to see the pink background you must refresh the browser tab that has the Other Wall Requests page open in it, to see who you have already sent to.

Requested gifts that can be sent using Send Gifts in the Gift manager (like Send cinnamon tree) will also show up there. With these all you do is click on the link to send it and the link will change to Gift Sent as long as you have not already sent one.

When the link ONLY says Send a Gift for things like claiming a quest reward, buying land upgrades etc do not click on those. All that will happen is you will be taken to the old Send Gifts tab and shown a message that tells you gifting has moved to within the game and a brief description of how it works. The Gift Manager in the game, which gives you far more choice of what to send, how to filter to specific types of gifts, more filters of who to send to and is quicker to send gifts than the the Send Gifts tab method was.
The section of My Requests that you are viewing at that time, will have black text and not have blue text underlined (indicating it is a link you can click on), the section you are not viewing will be blue text underlined and when clicked on will take you to that section of My Requests.

Your friends can come to your farm to work in your facilities once a day. The exception to this rule is explained below:

Reworking Neighbors Facilities:

Explaining the time between working a friends facilities before you can rework that same friend's post again.

To simplify the answer it was originally stated that you had to wait a day. Meaning that if you spend at least 8 straight hours in a day without playing FarmTown (when you sleep, eat breakfast, etc, most people will fall in this category) you will be able to work your friends facilities at least once per day.

If you wanted to work them say twice per day.... when you have stopped working friends facilities, you must also have an 8 hour break from working ALL friends facilities, no matter whose they are!

Example:
IF at Noon/Midday you stop working ALL friends facilities and take a minimum 8 hour break where you do NOT work any facilities at all for any of your friends.
After 8pm you will be able to work ALL your friends facilities, including the ones you worked before Noon.
NOTE: If you are only one second too early this will not work!!!

There is a countdown timer that resets to 8 hours each time you work facilities. There is one for Regular Facilities and another one for Service Facilities.

To help you with this, there is a tool in your toolbox called Show Times (looks like a clock). Click on it and then Look in the Gamewide section. Toward the bottom are the timers for Facilities.

Always reload your game before you want to rework facilities and check the Show Times!

If you want to be 100% sure that you have had a long enough gap between working each type facilities make sure that before you work any at all for any friend, that you check that you have a green check mark for Rework Facilities and Rework Service Facilties. Then, and only then, can you rework the facilities.

If there are no green check marks showing you are too soon to start working them and need to wait longer. The time showing will help you know when that will be,, you can mouseover the times to see more informtaion, but always check for those green check marks.

Default How do I hire someone to help decorate?

You can temporarily hire a farmer to help you decorate a single farm if you're also going to be on that farm.

First you both need to be online in the game AND you need to meet up with them on the farm that you want to decorate.

Your farm can NOT be Private.
If you set it to Private you will need to remove that setting so that they can go to that farm.

If they are not on your farm you can try these to meet up:
  • You can send a message to them and tell them which of your farms you are on. They must be online in the game to be able to be hired to design.

  • If they are a neighbour you have another option, you can use the Ask XXX to Join You option in the Neighbours bar when you find them there and click on their picture. They must be online in the game to be able to send that requests AND to be hired to design.

When you see them on your farm, click on their avatar and the avatar menu will show:

Click on the option Design this farm together

You will see the hire confirmation popup message.
There is an extra option in the Message.

No check mark means they CAN move any Items including those that cost Farm Cash.

If you do NOT want them to move any Farm Cash Items ADD the check mark by clicking in the box.

Click on the green check mark to continue with the hiring OR click on the "X" to cancel the hiring.

When you click on the green check mark to send the request, they will see a message like this:
When they have accepted to help you by clicking "Sure, let's do it " you will see the following message. You can then click on "Great, thanks" to close the message:
If you have allowed them to move any item including Farm Cash Items they will see this:
If you have NOT allowed them to move Farm Cash Items they will see this:

When you farming friend clicks on "OK I'll get started" they will be able to move Items that are on your farm.

They will also have access to the Yellow edit hand and also some of the other design tools like the Freestyle Farm Designers. IF you own them and have placed them into storage. If they can use them, they will be able to see them in the Toolbox.

Any tool they do not have access to will be greyed out in the Toolbox.

To cancel the request to design, you can either leave the farm OR click on their avatar and choose Cancel Design Farm Together

NOTES: When you hire someone to help design your farm, you MUST remain on that farm at all times, otherwise as soon as you leave the person hired will no longer be able to move any items around.
If you remain still for more than 10 minutes, it will also stop the person hired from decorating your farm, to help prevent this you should do something on your farm every few minutes.

If the hire to design ends and wasn't intended, then the farmer would have to be re-hired to decorate.

If the decorating is likely to take a long time you may find making them a super neighbour and giving them design permission for that specific farm works better for you as that will allow them to continue decorating without you needing to be there all the time.

Before you decide to do this please make sure that you have read up all about Super Neighbours so you know exactly what they would be able to do before you give them those permissions. You can read up about Super Neighbours by clicking on this link:

Default What is a Super Neighbor?

A Super Neighbor is someone that you can hire on a permanent basis to work your farms even if your not online.

You can also set them to decorate one farm at a time without you needing to be present.

The Super Neighbour information is in Chapter 06 - Super Neighbours
