Default Chrome 3rd party cookies setup - Old Versions

Chrome 3rd party cookies setup - Old Versions

If you block 3rd party cookies in your browser you will need to follow these steps to allow all the sites for the game to load and for the lists to show when sending gifts or train boosts.

If you have not already done it and want to block them, this is how to block 3rd party cookies >>

These are the instructions for older versions of Chrome. For Versions 59 scroll down to "For Chrome Versions 59.0.3071.86 and above"

For Chrome Versions 74 onwards see post#4 further down the thread.

1. Top right of your browser at the end of the address bar is 3 dots. Hover your mouse over it and it will say "Customise and control Google Chrome"

2. Scroll down the list that appears and click on "Settings"
3. In the page that loads, scroll down to "+ Show advanced settings" and click on it.
4. Scroll down to the "Privacy" heading and click on "Content Settings".
5. A box will open called "Content Settings".
6. Underneath the "Cookies" heading is a box called "Block third-party cookies and site data". You need to put a check mark in that box.

7. When you have done that, click on "Finished".
8. Close your browser and then open it again.

For Chrome Versions 59.0.3071.86 and above, follow these instructions:

1. Click on the three dots to the right of your browser bar.
2. Scroll down and click on "Settings"
3. The "Settings" page will load. In the dark blue search bar type in "Cookies".
4. The page will refresh. Scroll down to "Content Settings" and click on the arrow to the right.
5. Look for "Cookies" and click on the arrow to the right.
6. Scroll down and find "Block third-party cookies" Look for the switch icon on the right.
7. To block 3rd party cookies make sure the switch icon to the right of "Block third-party cookies" is all the way to the right and is blue. If it is off it will be grey.

If you have already blocked third party cookies continue with the following >>

Open your farm and look at the far right hand side of your browser address bar. If cookies are blocked you will see this icon >>

Click on the icon and you will see the following >>

Click on "show cookies and other site data". A box will open that looks like this. It may or may not have sites already listed. >>

There are 2 tabs, click on "Blocked" and you will see this >>

Click on one of the sites , one at a time (eg Facebook.com) and it will highlight in blue. Then click the "Allow" button. Repeat for each of the sites showing in that box.

After you have done that click on "Close" then close your browser and then open it again and load your game.

If you still see the blocked icon, at the end of your browser address bar, check your game first and see if you are able to send gifts or train boosts to friends. If not you will have to repeat the steps to allow the blocked sites through.

Also , if you have an ad-blocker plugin in your browser make sure the above web sites are also allowed in that too.

Be sure you close and restart your browser for those changes to take effect.

*Note: If you are using private browsing either through your browser or through your anti-virus program, that will block 3rd party cookies and pop ups. You need to turn this off for when you are in Farm Town, so that those cookies and pop ups can be seen.

Default Farmtown Flash Enabler for Chrome

As of 4th September 2018, Chrome Version 69.0.3497.81 and above, you will have to repeat allowing flash to run every time you close and reopen your browser as Chrome no longer remembers your preferences of your last session, unless you add the Chrome extension the Slashkey developers have designed to enable it permanently.

If Flash is disabled in your browser, when you load the game you will see the following. Please follow the instructions to enable flash in your browser.

You need to click on the purple text where it says "Show Farmtown Flash Enabler in Chrome Web Store" and then you will see this...

Look top right of that window and click on "Add to Chrome"
You will then see this...

Last thing to do is click on "Add Extension"

The extension will be added and that's it you are done!

NOTE: If you have already allowed flash to run in your browser and now want to add the extension. Click this link >>

Default Chrome Version 74 onwards

Chrome Cookies/Popups setup - Versions 74

Cookies and Popups:

1. Load Farm Town and look top left of your browser window.
2. Look for a small black padlock at the left side of the browser address bar and click on it.

This picture is using Windows 10. Older versions of OS may not have "Pop-ups and redirects".

You will see something like this:

Older versions of OS: IF you do not have the "Pop-ups and redirects" option skip to "How to check if cookies are blocked".

3. Windows 10: For "Pop-ups and redirects" to allow cookies/popups check it is set to Allow or Allow (Default) NOT Block. Change that setting if it's not set to that. Then do Step 4

If you want to keep them blocked and only allow the sites need for Farm Town set it to Block. Then do Step 4.

4. Then click anywhere in the window where your game is and a new bar will drop down with a blue button telling you to Reload to apply those changes, click on Reload.
If you don't see that just reload that tab using the circling arrow to the left of the padlock.

How to check if cookies are blocked: Click on the black padlock and this time click on "Cookies" and a new window will open. This window has 2 sections "Allowed" and "Blocked" This picture shows the cookies that have sites allowed. The ones for Farm Town are:
  • facebook.com
  • apps.facebook.com
  • www.facebook.com
  • l1.slashkey.com
  • r1.slashkey.com
If you do not see any of those sites listed click on the Blocked section. If any of them are blocked they will show up like this:
To allow a site, click on it and then click on Allow. Repeat if there is more than one. Then click Done.

Adding sites to exceptions: You only need to do this if you are still having problems and the sites are not showing in those windows. You need to add the sites manually:

1. Click on the three dots to the right of your browser bar.
2. Scroll down and click on "Settings"
3. The "Settings" page will load. In the dark blue search bar type in "Cookies".
4. The page will refresh. Scroll down to "Site Settings" and click the arrow to the right.
5. Under Permissions you should see Cookies highlighted in yellow, click the arrow to the right.

At the top if you see "Blocked" and want to allow cookies, click the grey button to the right, to turn it blue and you should see Blocked change to "Allow sites to save and read cookie data (recommended)".

Scroll down to Allow and see if the sites are added, if they are not click on the Add to the right of Allow and add the sites one at a time. These are the sites to add:
  • facebook.com
  • apps.facebook.com
  • www.facebook.com
  • l1.slashkey.com
  • r1.slashkey.com

Flash Player:

The easiest thing to do for Chrome is install the Farmtown Flash Enabler for Chrome as shown in the previous post. That way you will not have to enable flash player every session as Chrome now asks you every time to allow flash to run for anything that requires Flash Player and you can not change the setting to "Always Allow" anymore.

Should you need to check the Flash setting in Chrome do the following:

1. Click on the three dots to the right of your browser bar.
2. Scroll down and click on "Settings"
3. The "Settings" page will load. In the dark blue search bar type in "Flash".
4. The page will refresh.
5. Under Permissions look for Flash, it should be highlighted in yellow.
6. Underneath it it should say "Ask First" . If you see "Block sites form running Flash" you need to change that by clicking the arrow to the right.
A new window will load and there is a toggle button to the right which you need to click so it turns blue and then it should change to showing "Ask first (recommended).

Default Chrome Flash Set Up - Older versions

If you are having problems with Chrome opening flash for Farm Town try the following to see which one fits your problem. These instructions are from Google Chrome Help:

Adobe Flash isn't working

If Adobe Flash isn't working or you see the following error messages, try the troubleshooting steps below.
  • Adobe Flash has been blocked because it is out of date
  • Couldn’t load plugin
  • The following plugins were blocked on this page
  • If Flash Player doesn't open in 10 seconds please update your Flash.
If you're using a mobile device, Flash won't work on Chrome.

Step 1: Turn on Adobe Flash Player

For older versions of Chrome follow these instructions:

1. Top right of your browser at the end of the address bar is 3 dots. Hover your mouse over it and it will say "Customise and control Google Chrome"

2. Click on the 3 dots and scroll down the list that appears and click on "Settings"
3. In the page that loads, scroll down to "+ Show advanced settings" and click on it.
4. Scroll down to the "Privacy" heading and click on "Content Settings".
5. A box will open called "Content Settings".
6. Scroll down to the section called "Flash". You need to put a check mark in the box that says "Allow sites to run Flash" .

For Chrome Versions 59.0.3071.86 and above, follow these instructions:

There are 2 sets of instructions, try this first, if you can't get this to work scroll down to "Alternative Instructions"

NOTE: For Chrome versions 69 and above As of 4th September 2018 ONLY the first set of instructions will work and you will have to repeat allowing flash to run every time you close and reopen your browser as Chrome no longer remembers your preferences of your last session.

1. Look for an icon in the far left of your browser address bar . Click on that icon. NOTE: For Chrome Version 69.0.3497.81 and above the padlock icon is black not green.

2. A window will open. Scroll down to "Flash" and look to the right of it. It should say "Allow". If it says anything other than "Allow" click on it and it will bring up flash player settings.

You need to change the setting to "Allow".

3. Your game should now load, you may see a Reload button which you need to click on to reload the game. If it does not, continue with the Alternative Instructions below.

"Alternative Instructions"

Default Opera - How to add Farmtown Flash Enabler

How to add Farmtown Flash Enabler.

The Game developers have designed an extension for Chrome to enable Flash player to run automatically instead of giving the browser permission every time you reopen the browser. This extension can also be used in Opera Browser.

1. Go to https://chrome.google.com/webstore/s... flash enabler You will see this..

2. Click "Add to Opera" button.
3. Click "Install" button in the Extensions Manager, you will then be prompted to click "OK" then "Yes Install".

To check the extension has been added...
1. Click on the Opera menu (the Opera icon top left of your browser window)
2. Scroll down and click on "Extensions" you should see the following extension

3. Allow on all websites should have a check mark, if it does not , add it.

That's it you are done!

NOTE: If you are using private browsing you will also need to add a check mark for "Allow in Private Mode".

Default Firefox cookies set up

Firefox cookies set up

If you do not want to open up your browser to all 3rd party cookies or all pop ups follow the instructions below.

Add the following web sites to the exceptions for those settings. In Firefox add the sites under the Content tab for pop ups and under the Privacy tab for cookies. For the cookies to work you must set the History setting to "Use custom settings for history"

Slashkey.com
L1.slashkey.com
Facebook.com
Apps.facebook.com
Trialpay.com

Also , if you have an ad-blocker plugin in your browser make sure the above web sites are also allowed in that too.

Be sure you close and restart your browser for those changes to take effect.

Default Firefox Flash settings

Firefox Flash settings

Look top left of your browser address bar for a green padlock icon.

To the left of that is a black battery. Click on it and and allow it only for Farm Town.

OR you can set it in the Add-ins to always activate via the 3 lines top right of the browser window.

If your game does not load straight away close and restart your browser for those changes to take effect.
