My Webster says that plough(which is defined there as a verb and a noun btw) and neighbour are the British spellings..personally don't see any reason why we can't interchange them at will..
Swapping 'to' for 'too' and 'their' for 'there' (or 'they're') and 'you're' for 'your' is just plain wrong wherever you live.

Oh, I agree !! but still have to read it on here everyday !! I'm a buggaboo about correct spelling. Reading some of the posts (in general) on here just kills me. LOL !!

According to the Oxford English Dictionary, plough was spelt plow in English-English until the 17th century, when English took over plough (originally spelt plouch) from the Scots. So the US (North American?) spelling is the original English spelling.

I must admit I type so fast sometimes I type phonetically, not correctly. I do know "to" from "too" and "their" from "there", but often I hit send without checking to see if my typing fingers and brain are still wired together correctly. What I do find funny is when people in the MP spell "no" as "know." I can understand shortening words, but they go the extra mile and add in letters
