Farm Link and Start Date

These are instructions for how to get your Farm Town ID, create a farm link and how to paste your farm link your post in the Forum.

How To get your Farm Town ID:

You can use this method to get your Farm Town ID when you only have one farm or if you are unable to load the game or the automatic linking in the forum isn't working.

Your USER ID number is below the game screen when you load your game. Scroll down the page past the yellow box under your farm screen and look for the long number just after
"Your Facebook USER ID number is: ....... "

Your USER ID also shows at the very bottom of the Send Gifts page if you can't find it below your game screen where your game is loaded..

This is an example of what it looks like, this users ID is 00000000 , YOUR number will be different and may be longer.



When you have made a note of the number you can scroll down the instructions on this page to Alternative Linking to create your farm link for any of your farms!

Mobile and tablet users, if you have no keyboard to be able to use the Farm Selector Manager to get your farm link. Scroll down to Alternative Linking for instructions on how to get your Farm Town ID and make your own farm link.

Method 1: Farm Selector Manager Linking

You can only use this method when you have more than one farm.
It's another way to get your farm link for a friend or to add it to your post when posting in the forum when you don't want your farm link to show in every post.

Please note that the limitations of copy paste in WebGL means that this has had to change as it can not be done the same way as it was in flash.

1. Load your farm. Click on your Toolbox to open it. Click on the Farm Selector Manager.
   

   

   A window will open showing you the names of all of your Farms.
   
   
   
2. At the bottom of that window click on Copy Link, a brief notification in white lettering will appear then disappear, like this:

   

   
   
3. Click on the name of the farm you want to copy the link to and a box will appear showing you the farm link for that farm.
   
   This is an example of a farm link. The numbers in your own link will be different, it will show your own ID number and the numbers at the end represent the farm the farm you have copied the link for:
   

   

4. When you see that box appear, to copy that link you need to use your keyboard keys.
   The common highlight method to copy the link will not work in this area!
   
   
   Windows Users you press CTRL and C keys to copy it.
   
   
   Mac Users you press the (Command/Cmd) key ⌘ and C keys to copy it.
   
   The CTRL and Command keys are usually to the left or right of the space bar on most keyboards.
   
   Remember the game is designed for playing on computers and laptops so if you are using a tablet or mobile to play you may not be able to access the keyboard to use these keyboard shortcuts.
   
   
   
5. IMPORTANT!!! - BEFORE you copy anything else! Go to where you need to post the link, click inside the message box and then:
   
   Windows Users you press the CTRL and V keys to paste it.
   
   Mac Users you press the (Command/Cmd) key ⌘ and V to paste it.
   
   This is an example of where to click in the message posting box in the Forum:
   
   
   
   
6. When you have pasted your link, you can then add your message to the reply box and then click on either Reply or Post Quick Reply to post your message.
   

Method 2 - Alternative linking
You can use this method to create your farm link yourself, when you only have one farm, the automatic linking to forum isn't working OR you are unable to use the Farm Selector Manager method.

1. Make sure you are logged into to your Facebook account.
   
   
2. Then Click Here. and a new browser window will open titled "Diagnostic info"
   
   
3. At the top of the list you will see User Id: followed by a number. This number is your Farm Town ID. Make a note of it, you will need it to make your farm link.
   
   
4. You can now create a link to your farm, here is the code you will need:
   
   

   http://apps.facebook.com/farmtown/play/?farm_id=00000000

   Just copy the code and replace 00000000 with your Farm Town ID number.
   
   You now have your farm link which you can type into your post or if using a computer you can use the use the keyboard shortcuts to paste it into any post.
   
   Keyboard shortcuts:
   For Windows Users you press CTRL and C keys to copy it. Then CTRL and V keys to paste it.
   For Mac Users you press the (Command/Cmd) key ⌘ and C keys to copy it. Then the (Command/Cmd) ⌘ and V keys to paste it.

Putting your Farm link in your Forum Signature

If you prefer not to find your farm link and paste it every time you post in the Forum
you can add it to your Forum Signature so it shows in every post.

NOTE: Anyone will be able to see the link and click it to go to your farm.
They will NOT be able to view any private farms.

Do NOT put website links or links to any Facebook groups in your signature!
You may put your own farm links and a link to your own Facebook profile in your signature.

1. Get your farm link via one of the methods in the previous post, then top left of the Forum click on User CP.
   

   

   
   
2. Click on Edit Signature which is down the left hand side of your screen under the Settings & Options section.
   

   

   
   
3. Paste your link into the Edit Signature box. (you found it in Step 3 of Farm Selector Manager or Step IV of Alternative linking or in linking) THEN click Save Signature.

Now you know the basics, if you wish, you can create links for more of your farms and add those to your signature as well.


Here's how:

• Either get each link for a specific farm using the Farm Selector Manager and paste those, one at a time, into the Edit Signature box making sure there is at least one clear space between each farm link OR at the very end of each link you can click Enter on your keyboard so the next farm link is underneath the first one.
  
  You can use the Preview Signature to see what it will look like before you save it. If you use Preview your signature will show above the Edit Signature box.
  
  When you are done remember to click Save Signature.
  
  
  
• OR if you want to manually make them you can copy the farm link you made in Step IV of Alternative Linking and at the end of the link, after your ID number you need to add a little more code at the end which is &farm_ix=Y
  
  Example of manually adding:
  
  Your farm link you made previously, using Alternative Linking, looks like this, remember, you replaced the red 0s with your ID numbers.

  What you add at the end to make it go to a specific farm, will make it look like this (again your ID replaces the red 0s):
  
  

  http://apps.facebook.com/farmtown/play/?farm_id=000000&farm_ix=Y

  Y at the end means your default farm, no matter how many times you change which farm is your default.
  
  For a specific farm just change the Y at the end to...
  
  0 for your 1st farm,
  1 for your 2nd farm,
  2 for your 3rd farm,
  3 for your 4th farm,
  4 for your 5th farm
  and so on.
  
  Make sure you leave at least one clear space between each link you put in the Edit Signature box OR at the very end of each link you can click Enter on your keyboard so the next farm link is underneath the first one.
  
  You can use the Preview Signature to see what it will look like before you save it. If you use Preview your signature will show above the Edit Signature box.
  
  When you are done remember to click Save Signature.

NOTE: Your signature can NOT contain more than 500 characters so you will NOT be able to fit many links for yours farms in your Forum Signature.

Automatic Linking of your farm to the Forum


This one is the easiest but occasionally it doesn't work! If it doesn't you will have to manually get your farm link another way using the methods in the previous post.

If you don't want your farm link to show in your posts in the Forum then you do not need to do this.

1. When you log into the Forum at the top of the page if your farm is not linked to the Forum you will see:
   

   

2. To link your farm to the forum so it shows a Visit link at the bottom of your posts just click on that message.
   
   
3. The game will load and you will see something like this but it will be your account:
   

   

   This is the same page that shows when you click on the Account tab at the top of the game screen. Once you have linked your account the next time you go to the Account tab the message about being linked will no longer be showing.
   
   In that same window you can change your Avatar name and Gender.
   
   This is also the place you go to if you wish to remove the automatic linking to the Forum.
   To remove it, just click on Unlink My Forum Account.
   
   
   
4. To get back to the forum just click on the Forums & Help tab at the top of the game screen.
   
   Once you have linked your farm to the forum the RED message at the top of the forum disappears and changes to :
   

   

   When you post in the forum at the bottom left of your posts you will see something like this:
   

   

• NOTE: The Visit link will take anyone who clicks on it to your farm. They can NOT view any private farms.
  
  
• The information below that link are your servers at the time you linked to the forum. We occasionally ask you for those if a problem arises. You can get your Current server info for you, by loading your game and opening the chat box. Scroll the Chat to the top and the information will be there in red lettering. In the above example it shows W20 and C10 servers.

How to find your Start Date yourself.

There are several ways to find the date you first started playing Farm Town.

Your original Start Date will only show if you have never removed the app and then reinstalled it. When you have done that the Start Date will change to reflect the date you last reinstalled the game.

Facebook changes things every now and then. Some people may have different versions of Facebook to others.
So you'll just have to try the methods listed and see which one will show your start date.

We're only going to list a few of them.




METHOD 1:

1. At the top right of Facebook is a drop down arrow. Click on it.
   

   

   
   
2. Click on Settings & Privacy

   

   
   
3. Click on Settings.

   

   
   
4. Click on Apps and Websites on the left

   

   
   
5. Any Apps you have on Facebook will be listed.
   If you have quite a few Apps you may need to click on See More to view more than a few Apps.
   

   

   
   
   
6. Look for Farm Town and the Date will be showing next to it.

   

   
   
7. To go to back to your Facebook News Feed, just click on the Home Icon in the bar at the top of Facebook.

METHOD 2:

1. Click on this link: https://www.facebook.com/games/manage
   At the top of the page you will see 3 titles, Find Games, Your Games, Activity
   
   
   
2. Make sure you are in the Your Games section, there will be a blue bar underneath the tab when it's selected.

   

   
   
3. Look for FarmTown and in the bottom right of the box you will see a cog/gear icon. Click on that icon.
   

   

   
   
4. At the very top of the window that opens it shows if you are Active in the game and when you first started playing Farm Town OR last reinstalled the game.

   
   
   You can edit various settings in this window so make sure you don't disable something you're going to need to be able to play.

   
   
5. If you scroll that window to the bottom you can find your User ID for the game. In the example below the area your ID will show is indicated with a red box. The ID number in the example has been altered to protect privacy and if used will just take you to a blank farm:
   

   

   
   
6. If you are only looking for your Start Date or your ID, when you are done you can either click the X at the top right of the window or the Cancel at the bottom of the window.

If you have reinstalled the game at any time and your start date is reflecting the new start date, you might be able to find an earlier date IF you have been a member of the Forum since you first started playing. The date you joined the forum shows in the Mini Statistics of your Forum Profile and in the top right hand corner of any of your forum posts so may be closer to the date you first started playing.

If Neither of the above methods work for you, you can post a request in the Help and Support Section of the forum in the Thread titled Start date.
You will find that thread on either Page 1 OR Page 2 of the Help and Support section. Click on the thread title, then scroll to the bottom of the thread and post your request in the Quick Reply box.

To be able to check this for you we will need your farm link, so please remember to paste it in your post.
NOTE: If you have ever deleted the game and then reinstalled it, we can only tell you the date you last reinstalled the game as each time you do that it resets the date.
