Blocking In Farm Town
Ignore/Report/Block/Unblock

Reporting users for no valid reason can get the reporting user a ban.

Please make sure that you are understanding the differences when you want to block a farmer, whether to use Ignore or to use Report!!!!

Ignore and Block - irritating behaviour, temporarily blocking a farmer, perhaps workers that often don't finish jobs that you hire them for and may be cherry picking what they want and leaving the rest not done.
Report Abuse and Block! - sending abusive messages or in game chat perhaps of a sexual nature, other bad language or bad behaviour that does not come under irritating or annoying or argumentative.
Do NOT use report for complaining about someone not completing work on farms!!

Ignore and Block

Examples of reasons you may want to Ignore rather than Report:

someone's behaviour or chatting in the in the game may only be irritating, annoying or argumentative.
You may have fallen out with a farming friend.
if you don't like someone and prefer not to see them.
someone you hired that may be picking and choosing what they want to work rather than completing the entire job request, so you prefer not to hire them again by mistake.
if you you've hired someone on many occasions and they have not been able to complete your work and you're unable to find out what the problem may be, so you prefer not to hire them again by mistake.

Remember there are always new farmers learning the game needing help, they may not know how to communicate with you or how to use the bigger tools or how to get them back if they dropped the tool by mistake.

We all had to start from the beginning and seasoned farmers generally have a wealth of information to help new farmers know how to use tools that they don't own and may not know how to use yet or how to know that they have been hired for more then one job or more than one farm.

A farmer may have a temporary internet issue or an emergency so could not finish or return to finish your work or let you know. This does not mean that they would normally do that.

Please try to consider those types of things before you decide to Ignore and Block a farmer.

These types of behaviour are NOT to be reported!

There several ways to Ignore a farmer in Farm Town which will also send them to your Blocked Users List so that you don't see them anymore and they can't communicate with you anymore.

If you are online and in the same place as the farmer you wish to Ignore and Block:

Using the Avatar Menu:

Remember to check if they are one of your Neighbours or Buddies. If they are you may want to Visit their farm and remove yourself as their Neighbour or Buddy as well as removing them from your own Neighbour/Buddy Lists. If you are already on their farm there will not be a visit option in the avatar menu.

Click on their avatar.
Scroll down to Ignore and click on Ignore.
You will then see a popup asking you to confirm.
Click the green check mark to Ignore and Block them OR click on the red X to cancel.

After Ignoring and Blocking...
You will no longer be able to see them on farms, at markets, the Inn or at the Realtor Office in Farm Town.
You will no longer see anything they say in farm town chat windows.
They will no longer be able to communicate with you via in game messages or in chat.
They do not get notified by the game that you have Ignored/Blocked them.

Using the Ignore Icon in the Chat Window.

The Ignore icon is at the very top left of the chat box.
Click on the round circle with a slash though it.

You will then see a window showing the most recent chat.
As you mouseover each farmers chat line it will turn yellow.
Click on the chat line of the farmer that you want to Ignore and Block and it will turn blue to show it's been selected.
Then Click on the check mark at the bottom of that window to Proceed or the X to cancel.
You will then see a popup asking you to confirm.
Click on the green check mark to Ignore and Block that farmer, or click on the red X to cancel.

After Ignoring and Blocking...
You will no longer be able to see them on farms, at markets, the Inn or at the Realtor Office in Farm Town.
You will no longer see anything they say in farm town chat windows.
They will no longer be able to communicate with you via in game messages or in chat.
They do not get notified by the game that you have Ignored/Blocked them.

Open a message that they have sent to you.

Report Abuse and Block!

Reporting users for no valid reason can get the farmer reporting them a ban!

Examples of when to use Report and Block:

Someone is being abusive or sending abusive messages perhaps of a sexual nature.
A farmer has an offensive farm design like one of a sexual nature.
A farmer has an offensive avatar name like one of a sexual nature.
Someone is advertising bots or auto clickers in game - NONE are provided by Slashkey!! These can slow down the game for everyone including those that do not use them, which is why there are limits in place and those limits can change at a moments notice depending on server load.
hacking or threatening to hack your Farm Town account.
other bad language or bad behaviour that does not come under irritating or annoying or argumentative.

Do NOT use report for complaining about someone not completing work on farms!!

You only need to send ONE report!

If other farmers are having the same problem with the same user, they must also report the offender themselves!!

Make sure that you Report at the time the problem occurred.
Then the report will include what was said or sent to you via messages and will show on their account.
Reporting something not offensive will not be useful to see what was happening at that time.

Using the Avatar Menu:

Click on their Avatar and check if they are a Neighbour or Buddy, you will likely want to remove them from your own Neighbour/Buddy Lists as well as visiting their farm to remove yourself from their Neighbour/Buddy List.

When you are ready to Report scroll down the menu, then click on Report Abuse.
You will be asked to confirm
Click on the green check mark to Report and Block that farmer, or click on the red X to cancel.
When you click on the green check the Report Incident Window will open.

Please complete it before you Send it.
In the Type section there is a drop down filter that you can click on. Scroll down and click on the option that fits your report.

You can also add more information in the description box.

When you have completed the form, click on the Send button at the bottom of that window. Click on Cancel if you change your mind.

After Reporting and Blocking...

The Report Icon to the left side of the chat window.
Should ONLY be used IF the chat that offended you is still showing in the chat box and is very recent.

The Report Abuse icon is near the top left of the chat box.
Click on the Red Flag.

You will then see a window showing the most recent chat.

Using the Report Icon on received Messages.

NEVER reply to any offensive messages. If you have not blocked them, they can use the message you sent to them, to reply back to you and the cycle will continue.

By not responding, they can not use the message you may reply with to contact you again. If you block them then they can't use any other methods to contact you again either.
If they already have a message from you to use, do not reply to any subsequent messages! The message they are using to contact you will disappear from their in game messages as they get new messages that will replace the one that you sent.
In the same respect, any messages that they have already sent to you before you blocked them, will be replaced by new messages that you get from other famers.

You need to report the message that has the offensive content so that it will show in the report that gets sent, and you need to do that before it gets replaced by other farmers sending you new messages.

Open the message you wish to report.
The red flag Report Abuse icon is bottom right of the message.
Click on the red flag to Report that message.
You will be asked to confirm
Click on the green check mark to Report and Block that farmer, or click on the red X to cancel.
When you click on the green check the Report Incident Window will open.

Please complete it before you Send it.

Before you remove any farmer that may also be on of your Neighbours or Buddies, it is up to you to make sure that you visit their farm to check and Remove yourself as their Neighbour or Buddy before you remove them from your own Neighbour or Buddy list.

Removing a Neighbour from your own Neighbour list also removes any Super Neighbour permissions.

Moderators and Support unlikely to be in the game at the same time you are, or even in the same areas where the problems may be happening to be able to see it.

It is up to you to act accordingly when you see a problem and either block/ignore or report if necessary.

How to Unblock a Farmer.

There are several methods to get to your Farm Town Blocked Users List to unblock someone.
You may need to do this if the blocking was not intentional or it could have been done for a short period due to irritating behaviour or a temporary fall out and you want to see and communicate with them again.

Via the Blocked Users Section in the Account tab at the top of your game screen.

For Facebook you can click on this link and it will take you to that section:

The Blocked Users section will show you first names a profile picture if they have one, a Visit Farm link that you can click on to take you to their farms should you need to remove yourself as a Neighbour or Buddy on their lists.
To Remove the blocking, click on Unblock User to the far right.

OR to get to the same area you can:

Click on the Account tab at the top of your game screen.
Then click on Blocked Users.
To Remove the blocking, click on Unblock User to the far right.

Via the Message Envelope at the top of your game screen:

You do NOT need to have a message from that farmer to use this method.

Click on the Message Envelope at the top of your game screen.
If you have no new messages you will see the icon top right of the message list.

If you have unread new messages you will need to open at least one of them, then you can simply click on the Read All button at the bottom of the message to mark all messages as Read if you don't want to read them all. When it's green you have more messages to read, when it's grey you don't.
Click on the Red circle with a line through it.
You will see a message asking you if you want to Modify your Ignore List
Clicking the green check mark will then load the Blocked Users section of the Account tab. Click on the red X to cancel.
That section will show you first names a profile picture if they have one, a Visit Farm link that you can click on to take you to their farms should you need to remove yourself as a Neighbour or Buddy on their lists.

To Remove the blocking, click on Unblock User to the far right.

You can use the Farmers Lists to Unblock a current Neighbour or Buddy:

Open your Farmers List and find them on your Neighbour or Buddy List
Any Neighbour or Buddy that is blocked will have the green/red block symbol
Click on that Icon and you will see a popup asking you to confirm.
Click the green check mark to Unblock that farmer OR click on the red X to cancel.

When you remove the blocking you will see a brief notification like this:

When visiting their farms:

If a farmer is blocked by you, you will see the green red block icon when you are visiting their farms via any of these methods:

If they are a current Neighbour or Buddy, clicking on the green man in the Farmers Lists will take you to their farms.
If you see a recent facility work request in the facility wall requests area of My Requests you can click on the Click here to help link.
clicking on the green man in a message if you still have a recent message sent before you blocked them.
using the Visit Farm link when they posted to Other Wall requests about a Farm Cash Item they bought.
using their farm link, if you know it, to get to their farms.

When you arrive on their farm, If you have blocked them you will see a green/red circle with a slash though it bottom left of your game screen.
Click on that green/red circle and you will be reminded that you have previously blocked them and asked to confirm that you want to proceed.
Click on the green check mark to proceed, click on the red x to cancel.

Banning

Bans can range from anything from being a session ban to days ,weeks, months and much much longer, depending on what the offense was.

Automatic banning is in place to automatically ban a famer for certain offenses and or repeated offenses. Specifics on automatic banning will never be made public.
This helps to prevent those that my try to avoid getting banned knowing what those may be at any given time.
Specifics on what any farmer has been banned for will not be provided to other farmers. The famer banned will know how long the ban is for.
Banned farmers chat in the Farm Town chat windows in various areas of the game can not be seen by other farmers.
Banned farmers can not communicate with you via private message in game.
You will be able to see a banned farmer if you have not blocked them.
Other farmers will know when a farmer has been banned by their avatar name being changed to Temporarily Banned.
This modification to avatar names can not be altered by the banned farmer while the ban is in place. It will automatically revert back to the farmers normal avatar name once the ban is lifted as long as the avatar name is not offensive.
Other farmers can not change their avatar name to Temporarily Banned.
Support and Forum Moderators have the ability ban farmers, extend bans, reduce or remove bans. They are unlikely to be in the game at the same time you are, or even in the same areas where the problems may be happening to be able to see it, so it is up to you to act accordingly when you see a problem and either Ignore or Report if necessary to send them to your Blocked User list.

How does someone know if they have a ban?

If someone has been reported they may receive a ban from using the chat and messaging features. This does not block them from playing the game.

If you need help with a blocking issue:

You have been blocked from using chat and in game messaging and you think it's a mistake.
You have reason to think that the blocking and reporting methods may not be working.
