Looking back, I DID purchase tomatoes for that quest and it didn't acknowledge it.

I moved your post to the thread about quests.
Yes you have to have a lifeline before you can buy a crop and it has to be the trading lifeline. All 3 lifelines are listed and explained in the first post on the first page of this thread.
Without a lifeline you have to harvest the crop ingredient on your own farm yourself.

OK so I just got the "gift" lifeline. How can that help me with the Southland Cheese Roll quest?

Hi Lisa,
- Gifting Lifeline - Allows you to complete Quest Steps by using gifts or ingredients from friends. In this case after you accept the gifts or ingredients you will have to Store them for them to be counted toward your Quest Steps requirements.

Example : If you need an ingredient that can be gifted from the gift page or sent via requesting ingredients from a product in a facility that you own, you can use this lifeline to request the item or exchange a gift for it. Once stored it will count towards your quest.


So if it is an item like the tomatoes you can collect a gift of those. If it is not a gift item then you can ask for ingredients for a product from a facility that uses the item or items you need.

There's not an ingredient for that available as a gift.

Already done with the quest.

Now I'm trying to keep up with my crops for the animal feed facilities (which were a waste of money).
