I think the new update is fantastic.

I too don't like having to spend real money on this game but I justify it the following ways:
1. The developers work hard and have to be paid in some way, and I don't know how much they get from the ads.
2. I'm eating less than half the chocolate I used to eat pre-Farm Town, so I can always take the money from my food budget!
3. I'm reading fewer books so I guess I could take the money from my book budget too.
4. It's all to do with priorities in entertainment. Numbers 2 and 3 are the way I entertain myself. You take money out of however you entertain yourself.
