The maximum is usually between 300 - 400. When you reach that limit, then you should get a message asking you to move some of them to other farm. But this message can also be generated by having too much products completed in your facilities and not stored in your storage or a combination of both.
You can click in the Show names option in the grid and then in Show facility Info button and you will see the amount of facilities you have per farm, including Animal buildings and Non workable facs.
