Default Can i make a farm Private?

Yes. You can make a farm Private when you have at least 2 farms.

There are pros and cons for making a farm a Private farm so please make sure you read all of the information below.

If you wanted to prevent anyone going to a farm for any reason, perhaps you are decorating it and want to wait until it's finished before you let others see it, it is possible to make it a Private farm.
  • You can make all but one farm Private.

  • You will not be able to hire anyone to work a private farm.

  • Super Neighbours will not be able to work or use any of the mobile sprinklers on a Private farm.

  • Friends that do NOT have the trains that help with facility work will not be able to go to a Private farm to work them.

  • Friends that do have the trains to help with facility work can ONLY work the facilities on the private farm IF if you have enough farms with work on them so that when the mayor takes over doing the rest of the farms (the last 40 to 60%) the mayor will do those facilities for them.

  • Those with the 2 dispatched trains that allows them to work all facilities from the farm they arrive on, will also be working facilities on Private farms even though they can not visit them.

Remember - You can NOT make all of your farms Private.

How to make a Farm Private:
  1. Go to the farm you want to make Private.
  2. Click on the name of the farm at the top of your game screen and a window will open.
  3. Place a check mark in the box for "Make this a private farm".
  4. Then click the green check mark to save.

Note about Facility work and Private Farms - You will not be able to post facility work from facilities that are located on a Private farm. You would have to use other facilities on farms that are not Private. When you try you will see a message like this:

The other options in that window are as follows:

Make this My Default Farm - adding a check mark here means anyone visiting you would be taken to that farm, for example via clicking on your avatar at market or visiting you through the neighbour bar option, unless you also made that farm Private as well, in which case they will be redirected to another farm that is not private.

Make this a Quest farm - As of March 2023, you no longer have to own the Animal Harvesting tools to set a farm as a Quest farm.
For those that like to keep a farm with some of the crops/tree/flowers etc that are often needed for Regular Quests this prevents those items from showing up in Farm Stats when you also remove the check mark at the bottom of the Farm Stats for "Include products due to Fertilization, belts and bonuses"

When you ALSO own the the Harvest All tools, (Animal Harvesters) the Quest farm setting ALSO prevents the animal sheds from being harvested on those farms using the Harvest All at the top of the Facility Manager. This can be useful for Quest Purposes. When you set a farm as a Quest farm you will need to harvest the animal sheds on those farms one at a time, either from the sheds on the farm or via your Facility Manager.

This setting will also prevent anyone that is visiting your farms from using the mobile sprinklers to water the flowers on that farm.

Super Neighbours will not be able to irrigate anything on that farm.

However it does NOT prevent anyone from using the watering can to water the flowers.

Disable Super-Neighbour Farming - This will prevent your Super Neighbours from doing any farming work on this farm. You may want to do this for a farm you are designing or have designed or a quest farm where you do not want anything worked on.
If this is the ONLY permission set at farm level. Super Neighbours will NOT be able work that farm BUT they can still water flowers with the mobile sprinkler. They can still irrigate and fertilise anything on that farm.

Remember:
  1. The Quest farm setting will prevent Super Neighbours using any of the mobile sprinklers to irrigate or water flowers on a Quest Farm.
  2. The Private setting also prevents this and prevents anyone from visiting that farm.
  3. When the farm is not Private anyone can use the watering can to water flowers on a Quest farm
.

Other farmers cannot water flowers - when enabled, farmers will only be able to water the flowers on that farm if they are hired to harvest flowers. This can be useful to "reserve" some flowers for yourself when completing Farm Pass goals related to watering your flowers.
  • Super Neighbours
  • WILL be able to harvest, water and irrigate flowers when they have the permission to harvest flowers for you.

  • If they do NOT have the permission to harvest flowers, they NOT be able to harvest/water/irrigate flowers BUT WILLL still be able to Irrigate all other growing items on that farm IF you also own the mobile sprinklers that allow irrigating of crops and trees.

  • If you set the farm as a Quest Farm AND enable the permission that prevents other farmers from watering flowers. The Quest Farm setting overrides the other permission. Your Super Neighbours can only harvest the flowers, they will not be able to water or Irrigate flowers/crops/trees with the mobile sprinklers. They can water flowers using the watering can only.

Animal Behaviors - If you would like to change the animal behavior on a specific farm, click on the little drop down arrow next to Select Animal behavior in this farm and you will see the options.

Freezing animals prevents them moving around freely on your farm which can be useful if you want them to stay in the same spot when you may be designing so that they don't move around an could get in your way or you may want them to stay within fences you may have placed on the farm. To Freeze the Animals set the option like this:

Remember that when you change any of these farm level permissions you need to click on the green check mark to save the changes!
