I thought that at first too, but if you reload, your fuel will all be back (what I've seen in my game, the fuel will go down, but if I stop using it, it will climb back up to the original value.)

I'm surprised I didn't think of this obvious solution myself (I was just zooming in and out on the game, and not on the whole browser window.) Yes, fixing my zoom complete fixed this issue! :)
